Summary
Canadian Space Agency (Longueuil) seeks R&D services to mature the MAGE ICOS methane‑detection instrument for Mars, including low‑pressure ICOS development, miniaturization, environmental testing at 100–130 Torr, trace methane performance characterization, and delivery of reports, design updates and prototype hardware.
From the notice
The Canadian Space Agency (CSA) requires specialized research and development services to advance the Martian Atmospheric Gas Evolution Experiment – Inter Cavity Optical Spectroscopy (MAGE ICOS). The work will focus on maturing ICOS technology for in situ detection of methane on Mars, including: • development and optimization of low pressure ICOS instrumentation; • miniaturization of instrument mass and volume relative to commercial ICOS systems; • environmental testing under simulated Martian atmospheric conditions (100–130 Torr); • performance characterization at trace methane detection thresholds; • delivery of engineering reports, design updates, and prototype hardware. This ACAN is intended to disclose a series of procurement activities, evolving in accordance with the established Research and Development plan. This work may lead to several years of continued development in collaboration with the contractor to support the initiative, until the expected initiative is completed.
