Sunshine Coast Regional District seeks professional engineering proposals to perform a geotechnical risk assessment and Phase 2 investigation for Chapman Creek WTP and the Chapman Intake transmission line in British Columbia, including subsurface borings, slope-stability analysis, mitigation recommendations and a monitoring program addressing blasting, groundwater lowering and embankment stability.

The Regional District is seeking proposals from qualified professional engineers to complete a comprehensive risk assessment for the Chapman Creek Water Treatment Plant (WTP) and related infrastructure, recommend suitable mitigation measures and develop a program for monitoring impacts on infrastructure. Particular risks to be assessed include:  The impact of ongoing blasting at the adjacent gravel Mine.  The impact of ground settlement due to lowering of groundwater table resulting from adjacent Mine excavation.  The potential instability of the embankment supporting the raw water intake transmission line. This work includes Phase 2 of a geotechnical investigation of this embankment, including subsurface geotechnical boring(s), to provide an updated geotechnical report with provided options to address slope stability and its impact on the Regional District water transmission lines and appurtenances.
