From the notice
Lonsdale Energy (LE) is seeking proposals for conducting a Feasibility Study to explore Thermal Energy Storage (TES) options for its District Energy System (DES). Using TES in the DES is intended to reduce the operation of peaking equipment, such as electric boilers, and maximize the effectiveness of the DES during times of peak demand. This study shall evaluate TES tank solutions and present detailed information on feasible options. To gain stakeholder support and potential funding, the study shall: • Provide technical details to aid with further project development. • Provide cost estimates to determine feasibility and affordability of proposed solutions • Provide information on peak shaving capacity based on reduction of electric boiler use during peak hours. The consultant team will collaborate with Lonsdale Energy staff and key stakeholders such as City of North Vancouver and BC Hydro to develop the feasibility study.
