From the notice
The Town of Fort Smith is seeking bids for a FireSmart fuel removal project at the Fort Smith Landfill. The work involves clearing approximately 1.4 hectares of forested land near the landfill entrance to create a low-fuel area that reduces wildfire risk. Contractors will be required to remove, burn, mulch, or otherwise dispose of all vegetation fuels, including stumps, logs, woody debris, and useable timber, while ensuring the site is left level, clean, and suitable for maintenance with large mowing equipment. The successful contractor must provide all labour, equipment, permits, and materials necessary to complete the work by November 31, 2026. A progress inspection will occur two months after contract award, and at least 50% of the work must be completed by that time or the contract may be cancelled. Contractors must hold a valid Fort Smith business licence, liability insurance, and be in good standing with WSCC.
